The story of this place

Palace · Khedivial

Manasterly Palace was built in the mid-19th century by Hassan Fouad Pasha al-Manasterly at the southern end of Rawda Island, on a site associated with earlier palaces. It feels more like an elegant riverside pavilion than a vast royal residence, with decorated ceilings, woodwork, plaster details and windows opening toward the river.

The visit is relatively short, but the scale makes it easier to notice the details rather than rush past them. Its calm atmosphere, Nile setting and intimate rooms give the palace a character distinct from Cairo's larger formal residences.
