Artist Moataz Nasr founded Darb 1718 in Fustat in 2008, bringing contemporary art into a neighbourhood shaped by pottery workshops and everyday life. Exhibitions, workshops, concerts and cultural programmes gave the centre an identity closely connected to its surroundings.
The main building at the old site was demolished in January 2024. Later reporting described fundraising efforts for a new home. Images of the former venue therefore record an earlier chapter; they do not establish that a centre remains open at that address. Any visit now requires a current announcement identifying the actual venue.
