Grand Egyptian Museum
Where Egypt’s civilisation comes together
At the edge of the Giza Plateau, the Grand Egyptian Museum brings thousands of years of history into one journey—from the colossus of Ramesses II and the Grand Staircase to the galleries and the complete Tutankhamun collection displayed together.
About this place
The Grand Egyptian Museum sits beside the Giza Plateau and is the world’s largest museum devoted to a single civilisation. Admission covers the Tutankhamun Galleries, Main Galleries, Grand Hall, Grand Staircase and Khufu Boats Museum, as well as the commercial area and gardens.
This is not a quick collection visit: the building itself frames the pyramids and the galleries are extensive. Book a timed entry in advance, arrive near the beginning of your slot, and leave the largest share of your visit for Tutankhamun and the Grand Staircase.
For the first time, Tutankhamun’s objects can be experienced as a complete display inside a museum purpose-built as a modern gateway to ancient Egypt, only a short distance from the pyramids.
